Henryetta will be represented at the national FFA convention in Indiana next month.
That was the announcement made by Henryetta high school ag advisor Brooke Smith Monday night.
She told members of the school board the team of Huleah Wincle, Aggie Gillin, Chelsea Harjo and Stephen Gouge will be competing in the nursery landscape career development competition. The four were the third place winners at the state convention earlier this year.
“We will be representing the state because the first and second place teams declined to go on the trip,” Smith said. “Our kids have held fundraising projects and will be paying for everything including lodging and meals.”
She requested the school provide transportation to Indianapolis Oct. 26 through 29.
Another former FFA member, Joey Watson, will be at the national convention to receive his American Farmer degree. “That is the highest award a person can get in FFA,” Smith told the board. Watson graduated in 2020.
School board members voted unanimously to allow Smith to use one of the large suburbans to transport the students.
