BURN BAN

Another burn ban has been enacted for Okmulgee County.
At the Monday morning meeting, country commissioners issued the ban for the coming two weeks in an effort to keep area farms and pastures safe.
The county has received little or no measurable rainfall for the past two months resulting in parched weeds and grass everywhere.
During that time a number of fires have erupted blackening hundreds of acres and endangering some homes and outbuildings.
The ban prohibits any outdoor campfires or bonfires that includes brush and trash burning. Violations can include a misdemeanor penalty of a $500 fine and one year in jail.
