Some new surveillance cameras will be going up in Henryetta following Monday night’s city council meeting
The council approved $26,100 to be spent for the cameras at city hall, and the police and fire department buildings. Tulsa Surveillance Technologies received the approval.
Police chief Steve Norman said the cameras would be combined with some of the cameras already in place at city hall. No date was set for installation.
Also gaining council approval was the purchase of 13 sets of bunker gear for the fire department. That purchase was already part of the current budget.
Henryetta’s Main Street will be swept following approval for One Call Parking Lot Maintenance, LLC to perform the task. Owner Nathan Brewer presented two proposals, one calling for Main Street to be swept from First to 9th Street monthly. A second called for his company to also sweep Trudgeon and Broadway.
Jennifer Munholland said Ron Casey and Donna White suggested using only as necessary. “Our street sweeper is obsolete,” Munholland said.
Ron Richmond said the chamber of commerce is supportive of Brewer’s efforts. It will make our downtown cleaner and better.” Downtown business person Lisa Thomas said she sweeps the dirt up in front of her store and puts it in the trash.
Councilmembers approved the service.
The Deep Fork Community Action agency was given approval for a 100-year lease on property in the Crabtree Addition. That lease was discussed by Henryetta Economic Development Authority members with the plans for the agency to construct low-rent housing on the site. Currently there are four houses already taking up part of the block that once was the Francis Willard grade school.
Kelch Total Comfort was awarded the bid for air conditioning replacement at the Veterans of Foreign Wars building.
Keith Estes was reappointed to the Hospital authority board for a five year term.
After a problem arose last month with two groups wanting to use Nichols Park on the same dates this year, both entities made sure they were on the calendar for 2023.
Sandy Warshaw requested using the park October 27 through 29 next year for her Donkey Days events.
Henryetta Schools requested the park use next Sept. 9 and Oct. 21, 2023 for their cross country local race and regional meeting.
A conflict arose this year when both groups wanted the park in October. Warshaw was granted use of the site since she had made the request several months ahead of the school.
