Everyone has heard or read about those weeks in Philadelphia when the Declaration of Independence was drafted.
That has been made into movies, plays and even a musical depicting our founding fathers' work.
In January the story will be retold again but with a twist.
The entire cast will be a female ensemble with several Henryetta connections.
Liz Bealko, who has made her mark locally for her work with the high school students over the past five years, will be the director for this musical.
She applied for the directorship two years ago but the pandemic forced a delay. Finally earlier this year the auditions were held and the cast selected.
Two of those cast members also hail from Henryetta. Makayla Baxter and Felecia Andrews will be on the stage at the Williams Theatre. Baxter will be portraying Edward Rutledge, the Rhode Island delegate and Andrews will represent North Carolina.
This is a great experience," Bealko said. "I was blown away by the talent that I saw during the auditions and I think we have an excellent cast."
This is the latest in accomplishments for the HHS graduate. A year ago she choreographed an original play that was part of an off-Broadway festival. As a result her work was deemed the best and she was named best director.
1776 will be running Jan. 13 through 29 at the Williams Theatre which is a part of the Tulsa Performing Arts Center.
