Less than 30 Henryetta area voters are being affected by a decision by the Indian Capital Technology Center District this week.
There are 27 voters who normally cast ballots at the First United Methodist Church in Henryetta. They will now have to either request an absentee ballot or vote early in person at the election board office in Okmulgee.
That decision does not affect other voters who will be casting ballots in the April 4 school board and Henryetta city council elections.
County election board secretary Ashley Caries said anyone with questions about that decision should contact her office.
She went on to say absentee ballot applications must be received by her office no later than 5 p.m. Monday March 20.
Voters can apply online using the OK Voter Portal at oklahoma.gov/elections/ovp. Applications are available at the County Election Board or can be downloaded at oklahoma.gov/elections.
Carnes reminds voters that only the applicant can submit their own absentee ballot application. It is against the law to submit an absentee ballot application for another person. Voters who submit their application in person at the County Election Board will be asked to provide proof of identity.
