Monday's 4A regional tennis tournament was a great day for Henryetta as the Lady Knights captured first place in each match and will send a complete team as champions to state.
"Our girls came ready to play and they earned their ticket to state," said coach Dustin Mosco. They were competing on their home courts.
Capturing first were Abi Dodge in 1 singles, Andrea Wade for 2 singles, Katie Davis and Kellyn Lollis in 1 doubles and Casi Bailey and Emma Thompson in 2 singles.
After receiving a first-round bye, Dodge took her 1 singles win win going 0,0 against Sperry then 0,2 over Kieley Holliday form Wagoner. She capped that off with a 4,3 victory over Regent Prep's Francesca Sellberger.
The 2 singles title went to Andrea Wade with 1,0 victory over Sperry, 2,1 win against Victory Christian's Katie Elliot and dominating 0,0 in the finals playing Gracie Lim from Regent Prep.
Davis and Lollis were said to be the strongest doubles team in the tournament. They went into regionals with a history of 22 wins and only four losses.
The HHS girls drew a bye in the first two legs of the 1 doubles bracket then downed Pauls Valley 1,1 to go into the championship against Byng. That took a little bit of work but Henryetta came out the winner 1,4.
Bailey and Thompson had to work for their first place 2 doubles title in the championship match.They took a 0,0 win over Victory in the opener then followed that up with 2,2 against Regent. Facing Bing, they won the first match then came from behind for a 4,3,5 victory.
Byng would end up as runner-up in the regional tournament while Regent Prep came in third.
Henryetta will be playing on the Oklahoma City Tennis club courts this Friday and Saturday in the state tournament.
"We will have a strong team going to state and will be looking for a championship," Mosco said.
