A 28-year-old Okmulgee County man will be spending the next 223 years in prison.
Neil Shai Cameron Lewis was given the lengthy sentence in federal court for a brutal beating in September, 2021.
According to federal court records, Lewis enters a guilty plea in the case. He was said to have used a television and a coat rack to beat an individual to death after an evening of drinking.
The case was filed in federal court because Lewis is a member of a federally recognized Indian tribe and the crimes occurred in Okmulgee County, within the boundaries of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation and within the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
He is currently in jail pending transportation to a federal prison.
