As the current school year ends, Henryetta school board members prepared for the 2023-24 classes by rehiring teachers, secretaries, cooks, support personnel and bus drivers.
In a 20-minute special meeting Thursday morning, the board approved the staff hiring as well as adding a new assistant coach, Cody Hubbard, to the lineup when classes start in August.
The board also accepted the resignation of Jeremy Strickland as high school principal. In his resignation letter, Strickland said he would be officially leaving when his contract expired June 30.
The board approved designating Kira Hardgrave as an adjunct teacher for summer school Earth/Space science. She pointed out she was certified in biology and physical science but needed the adjunct designation to teach the other classes.
Board members also approved receipt of the policy book from the Oklahoma State School Board Association (OSSBA). Secretary Tammie Fairres pointed out the OSSBA compiles policies for all schools across the state then each school district customizes those policies to fit their needs. Henryetta board members will be making the changes in the book in the months to come.
