Its no secret that Henryetta has long had a love for tennis
A number of high school tennis players have gone on to make their mark int he sport as champions and coaches of champions. They have been recognized both on the courts with honors and awards and, off the courts with induction into the Oklahoma Tennis Hall of Fame.
That organization came to town Thursday to give back to the sport bringing many of those coaches to work with youngsters from second through eighth grades at no charge.
The city tennis courts on West Main was filled with red-shirted students learning everything from the basic skills to refining techniques.
“This is a great opportunity four you program and for the children participating,” said Henryetta coach Dustin Mosco. “They are visiting with some of the people that started out just like them and seeing how they can improve”
In fact those children also got more incentive to keep playing with each receiving a free tennis racket.
Many of those same youngsters will be back on the Henryetta courts next week as the annual summer tennis program gets underway. Mosco, along with several high school tennis players will be working with the children throughout June teaching them everything from the basics on.
