backboardThe final third of the tennis courts backboard started going up early Saturday morning. Workers were trying to beat the heat as they completed yet another phase of the project.
Blocks were laid in three stages to allow concrete to dry and hold up the 12-foot high, 36-foot wide wall. Eventually it will be painted with a line at net height providing a place for players to perfect their racquet and ball-handling techniques.
New fencing has been installed on the north and south sides with just a little more work scheduled for next week.
In another three weeks, the concrete playing surface will be seeing crews preparing it for the final playing surface. Still ahead will be smoothing and an acid wash.
Tennis associaiton members are hoping to have this phase of the upgrade complted by Labor Day.
