Several area students are being recognized for their skills by the state and national Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The competition included singing, illustrated art and patriotic art entries through Henryetta’s VFW Post 530 Auxiliary.
Two students will be competing in the national level for their performances with the National Anthem contest.
Breanna Revenue and Cavern Foster were the first place winners at the division level.
In the art competition, students had an opportunity to submit work in three grade divisions from kindergarten through eighth grade.
This year all the first place winners came from Schulter. They included Korbin Brandt, with a k-2nd grade entry; Kensington Brandt for grades three through five and Rhyan Johnson, for the sixth through eighth grade competition.
Sierra Dubbs, a wilson high school student was first place in the local competition for the Young American Creative Patriotic Art contest. She also won third at the state level.
Another Wilson student, Elijah Hicks, placed second at the auxiliary level judging.
