A single-vehicle crash Monday morning claimed the life of 25-year-old Amberly Barrett, Henryetta and her unborn child.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Barrett was northbound on Dustin Road about a mile south of Henryetta shortly before 10 a.m. when her pickup failed to make a curve and went off the roadway.
The OHP says Barrett apparently overcorrected and went back across the highway and off the left side of the road. The 2007 Chevrolet pickup rolled over several times throwing the driver out of the vehicle.
She was taken to Henryetta Hillcrest Hospital where she was pronounced dead. She was said to be 24 weeks pregnant so doctors did an emergency C-section to try and save her baby. After about an hour of resuscitation efforts, they were unsuccessful.
Her five-year-old son was also in the vehicle and was taken to the hospital for treatment. He was later released.
Investigating Trooper Mark Southall said seat belts were not in use nor were any child restraints.
