| The Henryetta Knights and Lady Knights wound up with different results in their opening appearances at the Henryetta Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. It took a determined effort by the Henryetta Knights to snag a 47-45 win over the Wilburton Miners in the opening game of the Henryetta Tournament Monday. The Knights trailed throughout the first half then found the range in the third quarter to start accumulating points. Only six Henryetta goals were posted in the opening quarter compared to 13 for the Miners. That included a trio of three-point goals. Henryetta started the road back with three point goals by Devin Longan and Brannon Murphy in the second to trail 16-19 going into the halftime break. Another three by Murphy along with goals by Heath Konsure and Riley Berry put Henryetta on top 31-30 at the end of the third period. Longan and Kalil Lewis each hit a triple in the fourth but Wilburton charged back with three triples and a pair of two-point shots. The score was tied at 45-45 with less than a minute left in the game when Brannon Murphy hit the first of a two-point free throw. He missed the second shot putting every fan in the gym on the edge of their seats with the Knights leading 46-45. |  |
 | After missing the second shot, the ball went back to Wilburton but a Miner stepped out of bounds turning the ball over. That set the stage for Lewis to throw the ball in to Konsure who took about ten steps then was fouled. He was given a two-shot free throw and hit his first throw to make it 47-45. Only seconds remained and the Wilburton cagers were not able to get the ball down the court. Konsure wound up with 16 points followed by Murphy with 10, Lewis nine, Longan eight and Berry four. The Lady Knights were sent down the consolation side of the bracket at the Henryetta Invitational basketball tournament Tuesday with a 50-42 loss to Eufaula. Once again, the Lady Knights came so close to a win but were not able to put it away. Henryetta trailed 10-13 at the end of the first quarter then 21-23 at the half. |
