Obituary for Linda Jane Bryant-Waters January 8 1948 — June 11 2026

Linda Jane Bryant Waters, 78, of Schulter, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Linda was born on January 8, 1948, in Henryetta, Oklahoma, to John Lee Bryant and Mina Violetta Hance Bryant. She spent most of her life in Schulter, where she built a home filled with love, laughter, and memories that will be cherished for generations.

A devoted homemaker, Linda was the heart of her family. She found her greatest joy in spending time with those she loved. Family gatherings and holidays were especially important to her, and she had a gift for making every occasion feel special. Her home was a place where everyone felt welcome, and her cooking brought family and friends together around the table year after year.

Linda enjoyed crocheting, reading books, camping, spending time at the creek, and playing card games with her family. Phase 10 was a favorite pastime, and many treasured memories were made around a deck of cards. She also loved country music, especially Elvis Presley, and her faith in God remained an important part of her life.

Those who knew Linda will remember her for her quick wit, her ornery sense of humor, her stubborn determination, and the deep love she had for her family. Many will forever picture her in her special place at the kitchen table, where she could often be found reading, crocheting, visiting with loved ones, or enjoying a game of cards.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Edward Waters; her son, John Waters; her grandsons, Tristan James Waters and Lakota Jackson Waters; her parents, John Lee Roy Bryant and Mina Violetta Hance Bryant; her sisters, Sandra Lee Bryant Bright and Nora Elaine Bryant Smith; and her brother, John Leroy Bryant.

She is survived by her children, Tonya Doyle and husband James Doyle of Henryetta, Oklahoma; Sonya Gann of Schulter, Oklahoma; James Waters of Schulter, Oklahoma; and Shanda Elaine Chastain and husband Wyatt Chastain of Schulter, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchild expected soon; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Linda’s legacy lives on in the family she loved so dearly, the traditions she created, and the countless memories shared around her kitchen table. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
