Oklahoma Offensive Linemen Square Off Against PBR Bucking Bull on July 11 to Kickoff Wildcatters’ Debut Homestand at Paycom Center
On July 11, join PBR and the Oklahoma Wildcatters for the official bull weigh-in to formally launch the first-ever homestand for the Sooner State’s only professional bull-riding team
On July 11, the PBR (Professional Bull Riders), alongside the Oklahoma Wildcatters, plan on answering the question, “How many football players does it take to equal the weight of a bucking bull?” when a PBR bovine star and nine offensive linemen from an Oklahoma-based collegiate football team step on the scale during the official weigh-in for the Wildcatters’ inaugural PBR Teams homestand on July 12-14 at Paycom Center. In a first of its kind showdown, the titans of the gridiron will see how they stack up against the incredible animal athletes who astound crowds in PBR arenas around the world.
The Oklahoma Wildcatters are one of two expansion contingents that joined the transformational PBR Teams league prior to the 2024 season. PBR Teams transforms bull riding from an individual sport into one where riders compete in teams. Every PBR Teams event features four, five games daily, with the top-scoring team in each game declared the winner. When the Wildcatters debut inside Paycom Center on July 12-14, the event will be met with added significance, marking the first event of the league’s 2024 season. During their homestand, the Wildcatters will take on the reigning PBR Teams Champion Texas Rattlers on July 12 in bull riding’s version of the Red River Showdown, followed by the Arizona Ridge Riders on July 13 and the two-time regular season champion Austin Gamblers on July 14.
Present for the weigh-in will be the entire Oklahoma Wildcatters roster. The team is under the leadership of bull riding legend and Head Coach J.B. Mauney. The two-time World Champion and recent Bull Riding Hall of Fame inductee will lead a talent-packed roster, including the likes of World Finals qualifiers Austin Richardson, Cort McFadden and Kyler Oliver. The roster also includes two Oklahoma natives in Hayden Harris (Tahlequah) and Kase Hitt (Dickison), along with Colton Byram, Eduardo Matos, Hagen Braswell and Dustin Herman.
Before the bull riding games for PBR Wildcatters Days, presented by Travel Oklahoma, begin inside Paycom Center, one of the PBR’s top bulls will be weighed against nine local college offensive linemen to see how the respective powerhouses measure up.
Photos and interviews with the entire Wildcatters line-up, including Head Coach Mauney, and Oklahoma’s own Hitt and Harris, will be available.
