Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs Offers Over $500,000 in Grants to Promote Tribal Youth Programs

OKLAHOMA CITY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2024 —The Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs (OJA) is pleased to announce the availability of more than $500,000 in grants. These funds are made possible through the federal Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). Funding is intended to support tribal youth programs offering culturally relevant resources and supports to strengthen delinquency prevention efforts and limit justice involvement among tribal youth.

Grants are open to all public agencies, including units of local government, school districts, Tribal Nations, and private nonprofit organizations. Strong applications will include evidence-based or promising delinquency intervention and prevention programs that reflect indigenous traditions and culture, are trauma informed, reflect the science of adolescent development, and are designed to meet the needs of youth at risk of delinquency. By strengthening youth development and fostering strong family and community ties, these programs aim to combat issues such as truancy, substance use, and other delinquent behavior.

For more information about the grants available and the application process, please visit the OJA website. The deadline to apply is November 8, 2024.
