Rand Paul Says New Evidence Warrants Further Investigation
During a television interview ahead of the hearing, Paul argued that recently declassified documents raise additional questions about research funded through EcoHealth Alliance and projects involving the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
Paul contends that the research involved gain-of-function experiments that carried significant risks and should never have received U.S. support. He also claimed Fauci repeatedly downplayed or denied the government’s connection to the research during the pandemic.
Those allegations remain disputed. Fauci has consistently denied misleading Congress and has maintained that the grants in question did not fund prohibited gain-of-function research under federal guidelines. He has also rejected claims that he participated in any effort to conceal the origins of COVID-19.

Paul referenced statements made by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard regarding intelligence and declassified materials related to U.S.-supported research.
