The storm sirens jangled nerves Friday afternoon alerting area residents to the threat of tornados.
friday stormAround 7 p.m., weather spotters saw circulation above the ground north of Pharoah and issued a tornado warning. The funnels never touched down although Henryetta was drenched by a torrential downpour that dropped over three inches of rain within a 30-minute period.
City officials said only minor flooding was reported but the water quickly receeded with no damage.
Just as quickly as the storms moved in, the clouds broke with the setting sun casting a bright golden glow over town.
The storm is part of a system that has been plaguing the state for two days and is expected to hang around on Saturday as well.
