Oklahoma's spring storms did not keep nearly 200 Henryettans from showing their pride in their town.
IMG 8088Friday afternoon nearly all the teams participating in Henryetta Pride Day came by the police department to pick up shirts and make their plans for the weekend-long cleanup effort.
They braved rain, lightning and even a threat of a tornado.
The overcast sky Saturday morning saw determined bands of young and old spread out across town picking up trash and debris. Later in the day, the clouds broke and the sunshine illuminated all the cleaned up areas.
Homeowners took advantage of the free dumpsters provided by the city for the effort. In fact, they turned out in such numbers that the original ten dumpsters quickly filled up and had to be replaced by another ten. By the end of the afternoon Saturday, officials had to shut down the site.
"This showed how much people care about their community," said chamber president Jeremy Roberts. "Because everyone pitched in, the town has become a better place to live."
