Phyllis Jean Qualls, a longtime resident of Dewar, died March 8, 2017 in Dewar at the age of 82. She was born Jan. 12, 1935 in Dewar to Link Fred Shoun and Bertha Louise (Hale) Shoun. She worked for many years at Ball Brothers Glass Company in Okmulgee.
She married Matt Floyd Qualls April 21, 1979. She was a member of Dewar First Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Link and Bertha Shoun and one son, Gary Don Summers.
She is survived by her husband, Matt Qualls of the home in Dewar; three children: Brenda Bible and husband Lewis of Henryetta, Matt Corey Qualls of Oklahoma and Paul Brett Qualls of Lake Eufaula; five grandchildren: Jenny Hunnicutt and husband Lewis of Dewar, Mandy Loyd of Dewar, Jimmy Dale Qualls of Morris, Matthew Qualls of Morris and Nathan Qualls of Oklahoma; five great grandchildren: Braxton Loyd of Dewar, Jacob Hunnicutt of Dewar, Garrett Loyd of Dewar and Stephen Kurt and Stormy Dawn a.k.a. Sissy of Dewar; two brothers: Bobby Shoun and wife Juline of Owasso and Jack Shoun and wife Rita of Henryetta, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Viewing will be Saturday, March 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon until 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be, Braxton Loyd, Jacob Hunnicutt, Garrett Loyd, Steve Hunnicutt, Scott Loyd, and Kameron Wadley. Honorary pallbearers will be Lewis Bible, Jr., Doug Wadley, Mike Cargola, Billy Jack Spurlock, Jr., Jay Dearmore, and Donald Wayne Berno.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, March 13, 2017 at Dewar First Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Vance and Rev. Ryan Wells officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
