There was a birthday party at First Family Federal Credit Union this week.
The financial institution is 61 years old and has grown from serving the needs of Henryetta glass plant workers to taking care of just about the entire southeast corner of the state.
At the members' meeting last week, it was announced First Family is now covering ten counties within its membership region. Just added to the coverage were Haskell, Latimer, Pushmataha, Atoka, Coal and Hughes counties. Already,, FFFCU covers Pittsburg, McIntosh and Okmulgee counties. Four offices, Henryetta, Okmulgee, Checotah and McAlester, provide members with a place for their financial needs.
The credit union started in 1956. Now there are over 13,000 members. It is the 23rd largest credit union in the state.
Financial products offered include: savings accounts which include money market and certificates of deposit, free checking accounts with free debit cards, mobile banking app, electronic bill pay options, direct deposit, consumer loans, home mortgages and VISA credit cards.
To mark the birthday, each of the four offices held a special open house with refreshments and drawings for customers.
