postal food drive
Henryetta letter carriers will be looking for food donations to help the Henryetta Church of Christ food pantry.
The 25th annual national food drive is held by the National Association of Letter Carriers.
It is a one-day effort that garnered over 3,000 pounds of food for the local pantry last year.

She said local letter carriers have been dropping off bags for people to donate non-perishable foods. “Those can be canned soup, canned vegetables, canned meats and fish, pasta, peanut butter, rice or cereal,” Padilla said.
Those bags can be left to mailboxes or brought to the Henryetta post office and placed in a specially-marked container in the lobby.
“With the economic struggles many Oklahomans face, the Letter Carriers’ Food Drive is as critical as ever. Not only do thousands of Oklahomans go hungry, organizations that help them are in need of replenishments,” the postmaster said.
Since the first national Food Drive in 1993, the Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive has collected more than 1.5 billion pounds of food; last year’s drive brought in a record 80 million pounds of food.
