Johnnie Mae Fox, a longtime resident of Grayson, died Aug., 2017 at her home at the age of 79. She was born July 23, 1938 in Tahlequah to John Melton and Ivalene (Scott) Melton. Johnnie Mae worked for the OSU Extension working and training people to manage their homes. She was a longtime active member of Union Baptist Church in Grayson where she also taught Sunday School. She served on the District 4 Water Board of Okmulgee for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ivalene Melton, two sisters, Maxine Adams and Doris Galberth.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harvey Fox of the home; six children: Ronald Melton and wife Vicki of Grayson, Harold Fox and wife Derrie of Grayson, Harvey Fox, Jr. of Grayson, Denise Payne and husband Ronald of Bay City, Tex., JoAnn Fox of Grayson and Oscar Fox of Grayson; 11 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; five sisters: Barbara McDermott of Grayson, Helen Melton of California, Ivalene Melton of Okmulgee, Sharon Dean of Stone Mountain, Georgia and Donna Smith of Tulsa; three brothers: Edward Melton of Grayson, Charles Melton of Checotah and John Melton of Grayson; also by a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Viewing will be from noon until 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Integrity Funeral Service with family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Union Baptist Church in Grayson with Rev. Jerrell Ivy officiating. Interment will follow in Okmulgee Cemetery under direction and care of Integrity Funeral Service.
