Wiley Hatkee Ryal, a resident of Henryetta, died Aug. 18, 2021 in Tulsa at the age of 80. He was born Feb. 1, 1941 in Tahlequah to Willie Ryal and Ruth (Harris) Ryal.
Wiley married Barbara Goodman Aug. 31, 1959 in Dewar. He was a well known teacher and coach throughout Oklahoma. He started the football program at Midway School in Freeman, Missouri where he was teaching at the time. He also started the football program at Inola Public Schools. He taught many students History and Drivers Education at Dewar Public Schools where he also coached. The baseball field at Dewar Schools is named in his honor, The Wiley Ryal Field. He also taught for a time at Wynnewood and Henryetta. Not only was he a teacher and coach but a mentor to many of his students. He was a member of Dewar First Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and a great grandson, Trip Whitlow.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Barbara Ryal of the home; one son, Mark Ryal and wife Renea of Dewar; Karen Milam and husband Scott of Dewar; five grandchildren: Rusty Ryal and wife Erica, Kaci Ryal and Nick Whitlow, Karlie Ryal, Ryan Milam and wife Tanya, Alicia Williams and husband Jerrod; seven great grandsons: Asher, Bowen, Rocco, Silas, Hudsom, Boston and Maverick;
Two brothers, Woxie Ryal and wife Janice of Oklahoma City; Doug Ryal of Skiatook; sister-in-law, Mary Adams of Kansas; and a host of friends and other relatives.
Viewing will be from 3 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 22 at Integrity Funeral Service.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 23, 2021 at Dewar First Baptist Church with Rev. Ryan Wells, officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
