Local residents who have junk vehicles now have 30 days to get them hidden behind a fence.
The city council changed the ordinance from 90 days to 30 Tuesday night following, “lots of complaints,” according to Jennifer Munholland.
The city codes call for anyone with abandoned, wrecked or dismantled vehicles to have them hidden behind a fence.
That code calls for the fence to hide the vehicles and be no less than six feet in height.
Anyone violating the ordinance can be cited for each day that the fence is not in place.
At the Tuesday meeting, council members approved T&S Racing request to use Nichols Park next November for the vintage motorcycle races.
Approval was also given for that organization to use the civic center Nov. 6 for their annual banquet and awards presentation.
Council member Michael Dickey submitted his resignation from the Henryetta Economic Development Authority. Christy Jeffcoat will take his spot as city representative.
The council approved purchasing an ad promoting Henryetta in an area Focus magazine.
Also gaining approval was the appointment of Munholland and Dickey as city representatives for the annual negotiations with the local Fraternal Order of Police for a new contract.
