December business saw a slight gain in sales according to the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
That state agency returned a $286,708 check to the city this month. That was a nearly $13,000 gain over the $273,789 reported a year ago.
Also sent to the city treasurer was a $45,913 use tax return from the state. It amounted to only $740 above last year’s money.
The sales tax money for Okmulgee County government amounted to $500,537 this month a $64,053 gain from last year but below the $502,582 returned in January.
Around the area Dewar was the only community reporting a drop in sales tax receipts.
This year the town received $16,201 compared to $18,748 last year.
The largest gain went to the city of Okmulgee with a check for $697,431. That was well up from the $623,838 returned in February 2021.
Statewide, $196,775,118 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $30,582,365 from the $166,192,753 distributed to the cities and towns in February last year.
Across the state, $193,129,239 in sales tax collections were returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $28,947,950.
