A celebration of freedom and American freedoms will be on display April 30 as the Henryetta Veterans of Foreign Wars host a day-long schedule of events.

From there, the activities move to Nichols Park with a youth fishing tournament, cornhole tournament for all ages as well as other games, vendor booths, music and food.
Tricia Bear, the veterans service officer at Henryetta’s VFW post 539, said all proceeds from the activities will be used to help fund the post youth programs and the national on Freedom Outdoors program.
The fishing tournament starts at 1 that day and VFW members will be on hand to help the youngsters. “If the child doesn’t have a fishing pole, we can get them one,” she said.
The cornhole tournament registration starts at 1 p.m. with a $30 fee for each two-man teams. Competition will start at 2 p.m. The top three teams in each category will receive cash prizes.
“This is a family event and we invite everyone to come spend a day with us,” she said.
