Douglas Johnson was born Jan. 28, 1943 in Red Hill, Okla., to Kenneth Johnson and Thelma (Reed) Johnson. He died March 22, 2022 in Glenpool at the age of 79.
Doug was a minister of God and pastored a church for many years in the Texanna area.
Doug married his wife of 59 years, Ruth Hooper in Okemah July 29, 1962. They lived in Eufaula.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Thelma Johnson, two sisters, LuElla Hayes and Donna Thomason, and a granddaughter, Hollie Summers.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Johnson of the home; four children: Kathy Winter and husband Bart of Hitchita, Linda Robison of the home, Dougie Johnson and wife Stephanie of Henryetta, LaClifta Thomas and husband Mike of Delaware, Okla.; five brothers: Tommy Johnson and wife Sherri, Ronnie Johnson and wife Joyce, Billy Johnson and wife Kathie, Charles Johnson and wife Mary and Donald Johnson and wife Linda; sister, Peggy Johnson; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; three very special friends, Lupe and Donda Quintanilla and Mike O'Neil; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives;
Viewing for Doug will be Saturday, from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m., Monday from 8a.m. until noon.
Pallbearers will be Bart Winter, Scooter Robison, Charles Johnson, Billy Johnson, Donald Johnson, Ronnie Johnson, Scott Hares, and Scott Hodges. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike O'Neil, Richard Ross, Mike Spiller, Robert Gallegos, Chad Hares, Keith Thomason, Travis Thomason, Bart Winter, Jr., Justin Winter, Ricky Hodges, Jr., Darrell Gene Woods, and Dirk Woods.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, March 28, 2022 at Gospel Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Tommy Johnson officiating with Walter Forte assisting. Interment will follow in New Sonora Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
