What is normally a ten-day suspension was modified Thursday night to four days by the Henryetta school board.
Meeting in a special session, the board adjourned into executive session that lasted over an hour and 40 minutes. The executive session included all board members, superintendent Dwayne Noble, board attorney, HHS athletic director Justin Been and baseball coach Brian Leder along with the students family.
Reconvening back into open session, board president James Williams read a prepared statement. He pointed out the hearing was requested by the student’s parents. “There was an incident which resulted in an altercation between student A, student B and C and D and thereafter to uphold the suspension, modify the suspension or reverse the suspension.” The students involved in the altercation were not named.
Board member David Molet made the motion to modify the suspension to four days starting April 4 and concluding April 7.
That motion was approved unanimously by the board.
According to other sources, the altercation happened on the school grounds following spring break where the baseball team traveled out of town. No details about the incident were given at the board meeting.
