Johnson Fry, a resident of Lawton, died April 26, 2022 in Lawton at the age of 76. He was born Feb. 1, 1946 in McIntosh County to Sandy Fry Sr. and Ella (Harjo) Fry.
Johnson served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was a utility helicopter repairer and infantryman. He married Unok Chon March 21, 1983 in South Korea and they made their home in Lawton where Johnson was stationed until his retirement in August of 1988.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Rosie Bruner, Nettie Harjo, Lorene Sumka, Anna Fry, Sue Harley, Bertha Fry, Sandy Fry, Jr., and Buster Fry.
Johnson is survived by his wife, Unok Fry, of the home; daughter, Sheila Stemper and husband Kevin of Moore; two grandchildren, Christian Seo and Reed Stemper both of Moore; two sisters, Alice Fields and Martha Fry of Henryetta; two brothers, Roley Fry, Dewar and Bobby Fry and wife Roselyn, Okmulgee; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing for Johnson will be Friday, April 29, 2022 from 2 till 5 p.m. at Integrity Funeral Service.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Yardeka Indian Baptist Church with Reverend Mitchell Taylor and Jerry Sumka officiating. Burial will follow the service at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta with full military honors by the Mvskoke Nation Honor Guard.
Serving as pallbearers will be George Fields, Brent Bruner, Keith Tulsa, Sam Lee, Christian Fry and Emanuel Fry. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and great nephews.
