Uel Dean Slane was born Oct. 15, 1966 to Billy Dean Slane and Billie Sue (Bigby) Slane in Okmulgee. He died May 24, 2022 at the age of 55 at his home in Henryetta.
Uel graduated from Graham high school in 1985. He served in the Marine Corps starting in 1985 and ended his service term in 1989 on a MOS 0352 (Antitank Missile Gunner) as a tow gunner. Uel started working for the Henryetta Post Office in 1992, where he continue to work until earlier this year. He met his wife Mone’ica Murrison at the BJ Club in Prague June 4, 1994, and they were married Nov. 29, 1994. They were married for 26 years and were inseparable until his passing.
Music has always been a very important part of Uel’s life, starting with him being a front man for his own band, Next Exit Band, and numerous other bands before he became the front man for Radio Heart Band in October 2016. Uel and his wife, along with Radio Heart Band put on the Henryetta Opry.
Uel is survived by his wife Mone’ica (Murrison) Slane of Henryetta; mother Billie (Bigby) Slane of Henryetta; brother Joshua Slane and his wife Mavier Slane of Henryetta; niece Phelecia Redman, her husband William Redman and their children: Jace Murrison, Amaiah Redman, and Ayan Redman of Canute; niece Madison Murrison and her children Easton Pratt with another great nephew on the way of Edmond; and numerous other family members.
Uel requested no viewing and no funeral. A celebration of life will be held in the near future where the Henryetta Opry was hosted. The family has requested that those who would like to send flowers, please make a donation to Saint Jude’s Cancer Foundation in lieu of flowers.
