The HHS Lady Knights didn’t let the rain faze them as they pushed through the state golf tournament at Ardmore.
Henryetta’s girls sat through two rain delays on the opening day that kept them on the course until after 7 that night. When they checked into the club house, they were in fifth place out of 36 teams.
On that opening 18 holes, Skylar Morris shot an 88 with Brea Stockholm 91, Mabrey Been 95 and Abby Pemberton 112.
Thursday was a better weather day but the girls dropped one place down, capturing sixth place when all the scores were tallied. Marlow high school would go on to claim the state golf title.
Skylar Morris was the top senior in the tournament and was named All State golfer. She had a 91 on the day with Stockholm scoring 93, Been posting a 95 and Pemberton finishing with 115.
“Our girls handled that opening rain delay well and played a solid game,” said coach Ryan Swallow. “To finish sixth out of 36 teams is an accomplishment. We were the only school with just four members on the team so we didn’t have the other throw-away score that could have made a difference.”
