Oklahoma Highway Patrol officers are still trying to find out what led up to a fatal accident early Wednesday morning near Pharaoh.
According to OHP Trooper Tim Baker, James N. Arthurs, 38, was said to have been lying in the eastbound lane of old Highway 62 near the junction of US 75 north of Pharaoh when he was struck by a car around 5 a.m.
The fatal accident closed the intersection for several hours while members of the OHP traffic homicide unit conducted the investigation.
He was struck by a 2012 Nissan Rogue driven by Arthur Sands, 63, of Okemah.
