For the fourth time since January, Henryetta’s sales tax check surpassed the $300,000 mark.
According to the Oklahoma Tax Commission, Henryetta received $304,123.20 this month. That was a $17,766 gain over last year. Those numbers represent actual sales from retail businesses in Henryetta in September.
The city also receives a use tax return each month. That money comes from sales taxes collected on Internet orders. This month the town picked up a check for $31,207.89. It was nearly half of the $62,162.86 that came back to Henryetta from online sales a year ago.
The use tax returns started an upward trend in 2019 then really jumped each year since. So far this year the town has received a total of $381,550. Last year from January to December, the town received $490,263. By contrast, in 2018, the total use tax money for the calendar year amounted to $192,396.
Around the area, half of the eight area communities followed on sales tax receipts showed an increase. The largest ws Beggs with a check this month for $58,930 compared to $47,636 a year ago. On the other end of the scale, Eufaula had the largest decline with $236,149 returned this year, a drop of $18,003 from last November.
Statewide, $199,342,262 in sales tax collections came back to cities and towns. That was an increase of $6,324,768 from the $193,017,494 distributed to them in November last year.
