Years of erosion has caused part of the concrete retaining wall at the Nichols Park spillway to collapse. That has resulted in further eroding of the roadway base threatening to destroy the Lake Road and forcing residents south of the lake to find alternative travel routes. Attempts by the county to fill in part of the slope have not been successful and now the city and district 3 county commissioner Michael Wallace will be working together for a grant to repair the retaining wall and save the roadway.
