Jason Hathcoat, a 45-year-old Henryetta resident will be spending the next 315 months, more than 25 years, without the possibility of parole in federal prison.
He was sentenced today for the murders of his father, Floyd Andrew Hathcoat, and Terry Alan Wetselline Aug. 4, 2016 near Tiger Mountain.
According to court records, Hathcoat stole a large amount of money from the home then drove away in a 2001 Dodge pickup. He was apprehended after trying to break into a church in Sequoyah State Park the day after the murders. He was said to have shot the two victims in the head and a rifle said to be used was recovered in the truck along with the money.
Since the crimes occurred in McIntosh County, within the boundaries of the Muscogee Creek Nation Reservation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation as well as Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and McIntosh County Sheriff’s office were brought into the scene. A park ranger made the initial arrest.
Hathcoat is being held in Muskogee pending transportation to a federal prison. He had entered a guilty plea at an Aug. 31, 2022 hearing.
