Despite four months of losses, Henryetta closed out 2023 on the positive side in sales tax receipts.
The Oklahoma Tax Commission sent Henryetta a check for $332,774 this month, an increase of $50,547 from last year. It was the fourth time in the past 12 months the town picked up over $300,000 in sales tax revenue.
That put the 12-month total for the town at $3,558,158 and was $43,889 ahead of last year. This is the third consecutive year the town has received over $3 million in sales tax monies.
After two months of declines, Henryetta reported a gain in use tax revenue. This month the town received $45,199.51, an increase of $19,111,10 from last December.
Okmulgee County topped the $6 million mark this month with a check for $6,063,543. It set a new yearly record, coming in ahead of last year by $192,181.
Around the area, Dewar, Okmulgee and Weleetka were the only communities receiving less this month than a year ago.
The dollars were based primarily on October business reported to the state in November. That means Christmas season sales will be reflected in the January and February reports from the state.
The disbursement of $196,553,716 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected a decrease of $905,686 from the $197,459,402 distributed to them in December last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $38,996,930.
