William "Bill" Luther Walcher was born Dec. 31, 1928 in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania to Earnest Walcher and Lillian (McKnight) Walcher. He grew up in Gypsum, Colorado, and moved to Grand Junction, Colorado where he would reside until he moved to Henryetta in 2005. He worked as a machinist, truck driver, and lastly, as a supervisor for the water department in Grand Junction, Colorado where he retired, following an injury in 1985, after over 30 years of employment.
Bill was known around Henryetta for always being out on a tractor, mowing the grass or grading the driveway at Interstate Diesel where he was referred to as the official groundskeeper. He was a member of the Henryetta Church of Christ.
Bill is preceded in death by his father, Earnest Walcher, his mother, Lillian McKnight Walcher, two brothers Bob Walcher, and Earnest Walcher II, a sister, Thelma Schultz, and a daughter, Roxann Sheppard.
He is survived by his ex-wife and friend, Julia Nelson of Henryetta; son Rex Walcher and wife Susie of Henryetta; six grandchildren: Crystal Johnston of Oklahoma City, Jared Johnston and wife Christine of Henryetta, Shannon Henry and husband Jordon of Henryetta, Sydney Madison and husband Jordan of Henryetta, and Brandon McCoy and wife Raeann of Bixby in addition to many great grandchildren and friends.
Family will be receiving friends at Rogers Funeral Home Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m..
Graveside services will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024 at the Chelsea Cemetery, Chelsea. Services are under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.
