Robert Gene Rainwater, a resident of Checotah, died Jan. 13, 2024, at the age of 82. He was born Nov. 4, 1941, in Okmulgee to Seaburn and Goldamae (Wood) Rainwater.
Robert's early years were spent in Council Hill, where he graduated from the local high school. He attended OSU Okmulgee, where he not only honed his artistic skills but also shared his knowledge as an instructor in Art and Graphic Design. His career path took a turn towards the advertising industry, where he worked as a designer before venturing out as an entrepreneur. His spirit of independence shone through when he established Rainwater Communications in Phoenix, Arizona, a testament to his dedication and hard work.
He is survived by his son, Rob Rainwater, Jr. and wife Dawn of Checotah; his daughter, Danielle Rainwater of Arizona; his second wife, Lois Rainwater of Arizona; his sister, Nina Hart of Bartlesville; and his brother, Jim Rainwater of Florida; grandchildren: Robert Rainwater, III and wife Nicole of Tulsa, Cody Rainwater and Andrea of Checotah, Tristan Rainwater and Heather Skaggs of Checotah, Dakota Rainwater of Checotah, and Abigail Yang of Stillwater; three great-grandchildren and one on the way.
A private family memorial service was held to honor the life and legacy of Robert Gene Rainwater.
