Ruby Irene Gooden, 91, former longtime resident of Dewar, died Jan. 26, 2024, in Okmulgee.
She was born Oct. 1, 1932 in Quinton to Virgil and Irene Quinton.
She was a Dewar high school graduate and worked for a number of years as a substitute teacher for both Dewar and Henryetta schools. Her work history included various retail positions in Henryetta. A member of the Dewar First Baptist church, she chaired the Henryetta Labor Day celebration committee for many years and was involved in the Senior Olympics and the Dewar Rebekah Lodge.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bennie Mack Gooden and brothers Jack and Clifford Quinton.
She is survived by She is survived by a daughter, Trix Gooden of Dewar; her son, Dennis Gooden of Henryetta; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Galassini; two brothers Joe Quinton of Medicine Park and Harold Quinton and wife Carole of Albuquerque, New Mexico and a multitude of friends and relatives.
Viewing will be Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024 at Integrity Funeral Service from 2 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the Dewar First Baptist Church with Reverend Ryan Wells officiating. Burial will follow the service at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta.
