Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec Lankford Urges DOGE to “Start Anywhere and Start Cutting There”
WASHINGTON, DC – Senator James Lankford (R-OK) today joined Newsmax’s Wake Up America to call out wasteful government spending. Lankford is a founding member of the Senate Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus with Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), which will be having their first meeting with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy on Thursday.
Last year, Lankford released the latest edition of his government waste book: Federal Fumbles: Ways the Federal Government Dropped the Ball, which highlights almost half-a-trillion dollars in government waste. Lankford also championed the Taxpayers Right-to-Know Act which resulted in the launch of the Federal Program Inventory (FPI) earlier this year so the American people can see how their tax dollars are being spent.
Excerpt:
Sharla McBride: Where do you think the federal government needs to cut back?
Lankford: Well, start anywhere and start cutting there—it’s not challenging. It is a target rich environment when you stand in the middle of government and look for areas of inefficiency. And it is a good day to be able to go after waste on it. So I would tell you in every single agency, there are areas where we can be more efficient but there are big ones when you deal with things like the grants. My taxpayers in Oklahoma were paying for drag shows in Ecuador, they were paying to study the secret language of butchers in Paris, they were paying for Napa Valley—one of the riches areas in all of America—paying for them to get a new wine walking trail. This is the kind of waste that just drives people crazy in Oklahoma and all across the country. To say, why is my money going there? I want it to go to national security, I want it to go to defending the border, I want to go to veterans, I want it to go to the key places—transportation—the things that government is supposed to do. Not on wasteful government spending.
