If you remember The Dell-Vikings and their hit, “Come Go with Me,” or Billy Haley and the Comets and “Rock Around the Clock,” you must have been growing up in Henryetta in the 1950s.
Those songs and many other things including Judy’s Drug, Green’s Drug and the Post Office Drug should be part of the memories of your life in Henryetta, the eastern Oklahoma town in a valley with houses dotting the hills above it.
This week, Oct. 14-17, will be our town’s All-School reunion that includes people the 1950s and other decades.
The Class of 1960 will be hosting an open house each day of the reunion in the Hospitality Suite of Days Inn.
It’s a good place for people of all classes to stop by to check up on old friends.
Friday, the Class of 1960 will host a buffet at 5:30 p.m. in the Days Inn Atrium for the classes of classes of 1959, 1960 and 1961. This includes folks graduating in those years from St. Michaels, Wilson, Dewar, and other surrounding schools.
Former and present Henryettans will be wearing hats honoring the Henryetta Hens and/or the Henryetta Knights.
Events including the all-school reunion banquet Friday at 7 p.m. at the high school, dragging Main and going to church services will be part of the reunion weekend too.
