The pride in America and appreciation for area servicemen and women was evident Wednesday morning as students showed their love for the military.
The 2015 Veterans Day program featured a combined effort by students from elementary, middle and high schools with a series of musical offerings.
IMG 5403Veterans and their families were the center of attention on the gym floor and the bleachers were packed with the entire student body.
Marti Yearger welcomed the veterans followed by Rylie Corn giving the Pledge of allegiance.
Following the national Anthem from the high school choir, the elementary students presented Heart of America and a medley of songs.
The high school bell choir performed "America.
Students got to hear first hand of a soldier's journey from Leslie Montemayor. She is a first year fourth grade teacher at Henryetta and described her journey from civilian life into the army and being involved in the tragedy of Sept. 11.
A medley of theme songs for each military brach was played by the high school band with veterans standing at attention when their branch was heard.
The most moving part of the ceremony was Taps played by Jared Montgomery and Jake Cantrell.
Introductions to the various parts of the program were made by Shannan Corkerin, Emily Bradley, James Whitney, Kynzie Gillin, Reagan Mordecai, Samantha Marinelli, Justin Yount, Hunter Gobin, Ronnie chasten Jacob Nail, Ezekiel Lasarge, Gracee Rogers, Jerad Skinner, Katlyn Sessions, raychel Morrison, Heaven Crowfutt, Brayden Lions and Christian Gray.
