Henryetta area homeowners are making their first trips to the county Treasurer's office this week.
The 2015 property tax statements started hitting mailboxes and the first half of those taxes are due Dec. 31.
taxesVonna Lampkins, Okmulgee County Treasurer, said the November mailing will be the only notice that property owners receive.
"We will have our office open until 4:30 each day through the week," she said. The second half of the property taxes must be paid by March 31, 2016.
By that final date, Lampkins said some $15,431,286 in property taxes throughout the county should be collected.
Taxpayers can make credit card payments at the office in the court house or online at www.okmcotreasurer.com. That website also allows taxpayers to view tax information online, calculate mortgage tax and to pay taxes by credit card.
Taxes can be paid by mail  and, if anyone wants a receipt mailed to them, they should inclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope. "This also includes anyone who has a mobile home and needs a decal," Lampkins added.
The tax statement shows a breakdown of where the taxes go, whether it is to schools, county general fund and health departments.
If a person still owes back taxes, that will be noted with a “Tax Roll Identification Number (TID) in the upper right hand corner with the letters “BT” printed in bold letters. At the bottom of the tax statement, the years that taxes are delinquent will be printed and highlighted.
