Filing period for 11 school board positions and one city council seat across Okmulgee County opens Monday.
Candidates can file with the Okmulgee County election board starting at 8 a.m. and continuing through 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9.
school boardHenryetta has one school board position, Seat 1 currently held by Brandi Brown, that will be coming open. It is a five year term.
Dewar schools will be looking for two board members, one for a five-year term for Seat 1 and the other, a three-year position to fill an unexpired term for seat four.
Other board positions include: Beggs, seat 1 five years; Morris, seat 1 five years; Okmulgee, seat 1 five years; Preston, seat 1 five years; Schulter, seat 1 five years; Twin Hills, seat 3 three years; Wilson, seat 1 five years; Green Country Tech Center, seat 4 five years.
In addition, Okmulgee will be looking for a council member at large to serve a three year term.
The elections will be held Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the total votes cast in this election, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will meet in a run-off election Tuesday, April 5, 2016.
Candidates may pick up Declaration of Candidacy forms from the Okmulgee County Election Board Office or may download them from the State Election Board’s website.
