Rev. Floyd Guy Rutland, a longtime resident of Dewar, died Dec. 22, 2015 in Okmulgee at the age of 99. He was born April 4, 1916 in Okemah to W. J. and Clara Rutland.
He married Beulah Marie Spurlock Feb. 4, 1961 in Henryetta.
Bro. Rutland's passion was serving the Lord and sharing the Gospel with everyone he met. He had been a minister of the Gospel for over 70 years and was licensed with the Assemblies Of God for over 50 years. He pastored several churches including in Okemah, Schulter, Pharoah, and also filled in at Four Square Church in Henryetta when needed. He helped build Faith Assembly of God Church in Dewar where he helped salvage and clean bricks for the building to be built with. and later became the pastor of Faith Assembly of God. After his health began to decline he entered Rebold Manor where and still witnessed to everyone and shared the Gospel with everyone he met.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Effie Hall, five brothers, Charlie Hicks, Glen Rutland, Noble Rutland, Jack Rutland and Oscar Rutland.
He is survived by his wife, Beulah of the home in Dewar; three daughters: Debee Newport and husband John of Tulsa, Dana Huckabay and husband Rev. Dale Huckabay of Henryetta and Janet Davidson and husband John of Broadlands, Virginia; seven grandchildren: Charla Newport of Tulsa, Kyle Huckabay and wife Jenny of Henryetta, Nathan Huckabay and wife Christina of Henryetta, John A. Davidson of Broadlands, Virginia, Emily Davidson Joseph Davidson and Rachel Davidson, all of Broadlands, Virginia; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be his three son-in-laws and four grandsons; John Newport, Rev. Dale Huckabay, John Davidson, Kyle Huckabay, Nathan Huckabay, John A. Davidson, and Joseph Davidson.
Viewing will be Sunday, December 27, 2015 from noon until 8 p.m., with family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, December 28, 2015 at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Robert Yandell, officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
