Jason E. Waquie, a resident of Glenpool and former resident of Henryetta, died Jan. 9, 2016 in Sand Springs at the age of 38. Jason was born Aug. 4, 1977 in Okmulgee to Joe Waquie and Patricia Frye.
Jason grew up in the Henryetta area, attending Ryal School and later graduating from Henryetta High School, where he played on the High School basketball team. Following high school, Jason attended Haskell College in Lawrence, Kansas for approximately one year. He later attended OSU Tech in Okmulgee and earned an associates degree there. Jason also attended and graduated from Tulsa Welding School where he was learning the craft of welding. Jason worked for several years as a firefighter for Mississippi Hot Shots and was employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs as a contract firefighter.
Jason was baptized at First Baptist Church of Dewar in 2008.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Harvey Frye; a cousin, Damon Jefferies; and two uncles, Robert Frye and Johnny Frye.
Jason is survived by his 8 year old daughter, Stormy Waquie of Henryetta; his mother, Patricia Frye of Henryetta; his father, Joe Waquie of Jemez Pueblo, NM; a sister, Lindsey Waquie Stringfellow and husband Brandon of Henryetta; a niece, Haley Waquie Dill and husband Clayton of Okmulgee; a nephew, Ethan Waquie of Henryetta; four aunts, Mary Frye of Glenpool, Fannie Frye of Henryetta, Freda Fields of Okmulgee, and Carol Frye of Dewar; four uncles, William Frye of Henryetta, Harbie Frye Jr and wife Cheryl of Guthrie, James Frye of Tulsa and Samuel Frye of Henryetta; numerous cousins, other extended family, and many good friends.
Viewing for Jason will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Integrity Funeral Service in Henryetta.
A wake service for Jason will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 7 until 10 p.m. at Yardeka Indian Baptist Church, south of Henryetta.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Yardeka Indian Baptist Church with James Williams, Roley Frye, Junior Taylor, and John Wayne Tulsa officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Frye Family Cemetery, south of Henryetta under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Munoz, Ethan Waquie, Craig Vaughn, Eddie Westmoreland, Allen Snow, and John Frye Jr.
