Burel Gene Morris, a resident of rural Wetumka, died Jan. 21, 2016 in Muskogee at the age of 83. Burel was born Aug. 25, 1932 in Hanna to N.E. "Norb" Morris and Lynnie Arnhart Morris.
He grew up in the Hanna and Henryetta areas and attended school in both cities. Burel did attend college for several years after high school. He was a longtime member of the Local 205 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, and worked his entire adult life as an accomplished welder. He was a 32nd degree mason.
He is preceded in death by both his mother and father; his wife, Violet Morris; a daughter, Donna Rose; a sister, Dolly Richardson; by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Burel is survived by his son, Burel G. Morris II and wife Chastity of Glenpool; a daughter, Joyce Dye of Mesa, AZ; four grandchildren: Paige Morris, Jennifer Hathaway, Jacob Loos, and Scott Samples; two great grandchildren: Chloe Hathaway and Makenna Hathaway; a brother, Tom Morris and wife Paula of Henryetta; three sisters: Mary Geary of Broken Arrow, Lynn Story and husband Tom of Bixby, and Virginia Rakestraw and husband Ron of Henryetta; nephews: Dustin Morris and wife Crystal of Henryetta, Skyler Morris, and Don Geary and wife Cindy of Broken Arrow; John Hunter of McKinney, TX, Chad Rakestraw of Henryetta, and Royo Wade Richardson of Houston; nieces: Karisa Sigler and husband Donald of Harrah, Makenzie Morris, Lisa Harland and husband John of McKinney, Tex., Tara Roberts and husband Bryan of Sapulpa, Delana Rakestraw of Tulsa, and Rhonda Gale Sherril of Peggs; a great nephew Dax Sigler; and by numerous other extended family and many good friends.
Viewing will be held at Integrity Funeral Service Monday, January 25, 2016 from 3 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Integrity Chapel with Rev. MIke Burns officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Hanna Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service. Military honors will be provided by U.S. Army.
Pallbearers will be D.A. Ramey, John Hunter, Tommy Morris, Dusty Morris, Richard Allen, and Chris Guynes.
