The dam holding back Nichols Lake has a clean new look this year.
City crews have been removing an overgrowth of trees eliminating a potential problem with roots damaging the earthen structure. That cleanup will also allow city workers to seed the face of the dam and keep it mowed giving visitors a full view of the lake as they drive by.
According to city officials, the work was needed following a recent inspection.
