Sharon Gayle (Haley) Dodson, a longtime resident of Dustin, died March 23, 2016 in Dustin at the age of 65, Sharon was born in Ramonville, Tex., Jan. 18, 1951 to William J. Haley and Nellie Odell Arnhart Haley.
She grew up in Dustin and attended Graham Public Schools. During her adult life, Sharon became wildly known as an accomplished vocalist and musician, performing with the likes of Conway Twitty and Buck Owens. She appeared on the television show "Hee Haw" and was a recording vocalist for several years. She later worked for the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority as a tollbooth attendent. And, after 26 years of loyal service, Sharon retired from the Turnpike Authority.
Sharon married the love of her life, Clarence William Dodson, Jr. in Sapulpa March 17, 1969.Sharon served on the school board in Dustin for 22 years as a board member.
She is preceded in death by both her mother and father; and a sister, Judy Duckett.
Sharon is survived by her husband Clarence of the home in Dustin; a son, Shelby Dodson and wife Karlee of Dustin; two daughters: Jennifer Dodson and husband Mike Crawford of Henryetta and Tisha George of Henryetta; three grandchildren: Michael White and Mason White of Henryetta and Payton Dodge of Dustin; one brother, Jimmy Haley of Prescott, Ariz.; a sister, Dana Tomczak and husband Matt of Mt. Morris, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Deverly Nuckolls and husband Garland Nuckolls of Schulter; and by other extended family and many good friends.
Viewing will be held Friday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Integrity Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held Friday, March 25, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Dustin Cemetery with Rev. Herman Huffman officiating. Services are under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Shelby Dodson, George White, James Nuckolls, Jimmy Guynes, Paul Woodall, and Tracy Haley.
The family has designated the Susan B. Komen Fight for the Cure Breast Cancer Awareness, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, TX 75244 as appropriate for memorial contributions.
